Saks reacted to the popularity of designer sneakers for men with a new curated installation in 16 of its stores.
Saks’ “Sneaks” includes a range of high-fashion footwear, including athletic sneakers, high tops and slip-ons with exclusive designs from brands such as Fendi and Jimmy Choo. These unique offerings appeal to sneaker enthusiasts and collectors, and allow Saks to draw in male consumers (

The store was also one of the New York-based luxury retailers that celebrated having the Super Bowl in their hometown for the first time with football-inspired events of their own.
Saks will host a luxury tailgate at its Manhattan flagship during Super Bowl weekend from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. The retailer’s restaurants will serve a fine cuisine take on tailgate food, and the store will carry a selection of cold weather and sport attire.
The store's celebration also featured a philanthropic cause, with its sixth annual partnership with Off the Field, a charity run by the wives of current and former NFL players. Off the Field supports women, children and families in need (

"Athletes are the new fashion influencers," Mr. Jennings said. "We’re seeing top athletes on the front row of fashion shows along with musicians and actors.
"It makes perfect sense to tap into this market as many guys are watching what athletes are wearing and coming into the store or shopping on line to get the look."
